Sophie Francis is a 18 years-young rising DJ Producer from The Netherlands, with a significant music level for her age and experience, with extraordinary achievements in a very short period of time.
Sophie has been passionate about music since her childhood. She started playing piano at a very young age and singing along to every song. Soon she became fascinated about how music could touch and influence people. Sophie loves to create emotions with her compositions, and dance music has her heart because of the high energy, unity and feelings that it brings.
At the age of 14 she had to accomplish a school project, developing some sort of skill during 9 months and record the whole process. She wanted to do something related to music, and decided that mixing records would be her school project. She went to a music school in Eindhoven to take DJing lessons and she got that addicted to it that started playing daily for long hours. Also at the music school she met new friends already producing their records, and she wanted to learn, being able in the future to play her own music. That’s how all started.
Being 15 she had the chance to play and get her first residency at a small bar ‘Het Pumpke’ in her home-town, and from there everything escalated with promoters inviting her to play at different events in The Netherlands. She started under the name ‘Sophie’s Choice’. Her performances received great critics by club owners and music fans.
In the summer of 2015 she took another step forward by signing up with Always Management. As a kickoff performing abroad Sophie Francis played an outstanding 2 hours set at BCM Mallorca –one of the Best Clubs in the World by DJ Mag- that was very well received by the crowd.
In October of 2015 she started performing under her new artist name: Sophie Francis. She had to leave her initial name behind due to trademark conflicts.
At the end of 2015 Sophie had her first South Africa tour, performing at the mainstage of The Ruins Festival in St. Francis Bay, Coco Club in Cape Town and a fantastic appearance invited by a National TV Show with 1.5 millions audience. That became an achieved milestone for Sophie Francis’s rising popularity in South Africa.
One day she heard that a new record label called Freeway Recordings was supporting new talents. Receiving demos and helping the artists to co-produce, mix and master their musical ideas, to bring the sound quality to the next level. She sent some demos, which caught the label’s attention, and they worked together towards releasing Sophie Francis’s first 4 tracks.
Sophie’s first 3 singles ‘Drop Of A Dime’, ‘Up In This’ and ‘Bad Boy’ were released on Freeway Recordings at the beginning of 2016, reaching Top20 in the Progressive-House charts on Beatport and being supported by Tiësto, Quintino, Ummet Ozcan, Thomas Gold, Tritonal, Juicy M… and many others. Sophie’s 4th single ‘Annihilate’ was released in June 2016 as a Free Download giving back to her supportive fans, going viral and getting 2 million plays on Soundcloud.
The first half of 2016 was a period where Sophie had to focus on several tough and important exams passing to the last phase of her studies, plus her music, expending most of her free time in studios.
Then, since the summer of 2016 Sophie Francis is playing mainstage at festivals in Spain like LCB or University Dance Music Festival in Valencia for 35.000 people; also Dutch festivals as Hockeyloverz are counting with her on the main line ups, and other countries as UK, Belgium, France, Germany, US, India, China, Vietnam, Japan, UAE naming a few, are requesting her to play at their shows.
